Looking ahead

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a great New Years Eve however you happened to spend it this year.

We had already planned on just being home for New Years Eve, and I was totally cool with that. My bedtime comes early these days, so I knew it would be ridiculous to even attempt doing something. I would have just ended up awkwardly falling asleep in some corner, and looking like a passed out drunk girl. No thanks. The plan was to stay home with just us, eat some junk food and try out our ice cream maker for the first time...

But Dean came down with the flu over the weekend, and the last thing I wanted was for me or the boys to get sick too. So, the junk food/sugar fun will have to wait until another day. Instead we ate leftovers, got the boys to bed by 8:30pm and popped in a movie. I surprisingly ended up lasting until close to 11pm, but only because I was really into the movie we watched. If I really wanted to I am sure I could have hung on one more hour, but I cherish sleep so much these days that it just wasn't worth it. As soon as it finished I dragged my butt upstairs and crashed in bed. Dean was going to attempt to stay up until midnight, but I guess seeing Jenny McCarthy talk and Pitbull sing just wasn't stimulating enough. He came up to bed about 10 minutes after I did.

The past few months have been rough, to say the least, between a rushed move, being sick and experiencing many losses as of late. I am hopeful that this new year will bring along with it a new season of life for us. One filled with fun, structure, growth and new life. I never have made a list of resolutions, and I am not about to start now. But here are a few things I would like to see happen in our family this next year.

I want to create more structure in our day to day lives: Make sure I do my best to keep the house in order, make a chore chart for Will and start a school routine for him are just a few things.

I am excited to slowly make our house a home, and to be able to have the house running in good order so we can have an inviting and cozy place to host gatherings with family and friends.

Dean has made some new changes that we are hopeful will bring successful growth to his business this next year. He has worked so hard, and I would love to see it all pay off.

The boys are at such a fun and flexible age, and we have plans to do lots of little fun things together as a family and maybe a getaway for just me and Dean before the baby comes and slows life down a bit.

And of course we will be welcoming a new member to our family this June! I have been told that adding baby #3 is pretty tough, but I am hopeful that the transition will go smoothly and that baby will fit right in.

I pray this year holds amazing things for you too!
