The day we wore t-shirts outside in January

As much as I hate the bitter cold winter often brings with it here in the Northeast, my body is so adapted to the 4 seasons we have. We had a little warm spell here yesterday. As nice as it was not having to bundle up and freeze going outside, I'm just not ready for Spring yet! I'm still in cozy winter mode, and that 60 degree weather just didn't feel right. Nevertheless, the boys have been itching to get outside, so I had to take advantage of not having to put on 4 layers of clothes to do that. We dragged their bikes up from the basement, and had some fun riding up and down the sidewalk and splashing in puddles!

Thursday shmursday

For a few weeks now Dean has made it a priority to start taking off work on Thursday mornings. His plan was to have daddy and Will days, but some weeks we've done things as a family as well. The first week we surprised Will and went to the Science Museum. I got Will this book for Christmas, and he has loved it! The museum had a T Rex skeleton named "Sue" on exhibit, so we thought it would be fun to go see it. The boys had a lot of fun, and we found out Sam is a wanderer.

Pregnancy Diary 2: Week 18

Eighteen weeks the 3rd time around is definitely making me feel larger much sooner. Here I am at 20 weeks with Sam. That's not to say I'm claiming I am huge right now. I am officially back to my pre-pregnancy weight. My appetite hasn't grown, but my body just all of a sudden started gaining. It's a good thing.

I am definitely feeling baby move around (in fact he/she is moving around right now as I lay here writing). It makes it feel much more real. We have our ultrasound scheduled a couple weeks from now, and we are so anxious to find out the gender of this baby!

I got back to the gym today for the first time in over 12 weeks, and it felt sooooo good! I did better than I thought I would, and didn't get lightheaded at all. I'm taking it pretty easy for now; lots of low impact (so don't freak out mom). I did the recumbent bike, some stretching and yoga moves and free weights for arms and back.

Right now I am still hating tomato sauce and chicken/beef broth. Which I am very bummed about since I am a big believer that one of the most nutritious foods you can have is homemade broth. I would drink it plain right out of a mug before being pregnant, but I just can't handle it now. Hopefully I will get over that at some point. I am very glad I can at least enjoy eggs since they are also very nutrient dense. I have them scrambled at breakfast (or dinner), hard boiled at lunch and raw yolks in my smoothies.

Will is finally understanding...

Officially uncool.

So, something happened a couple months ago while I was sick that I never mentioned (on here at least). Something big. A mommy milestone you could say.

For a while now I have succumbed to the fact that the chance of me ever being considered cool again by anyone other than maybe another mom is no longer an option on the table. I've got two kids with one on the way. My days are spent wiping butts, playing with blocks or puzzles and making snacks. My nightlife is cleaning up dinner dishes, watching my boys and thinking they are the most entertaining thing ever, watching a little Pooh Bear and being in bed preferably well before 10pm.  My hobbies consist of crocheting and crafts. I get excited when there is a sale on diapers. My only reason for actually having a social life is solely because of play dates. I get it. Not cool.

So, as you can see, things weren't looking good already...

Hide

While I was sick I was pretty much useless. Besides the fact that I was (am) GROWING A HUMAN, of course. The boys were hardly here those 7ish weeks, but when they were they got bored quickly. I was no longer a fun mom who would wrestle and play cars. I was a lump on the couch. But Sam wasn't going to let that get in his way of having some fun with mom, so he created his own little version of "Hide and Seek."...

Pregnancy Diary 2: Week 16

Tired. Tired. Tired. This past week energy has not been a friend of mine. Not that it really has been for a while now, but I felt like I was finally starting to get a little more motivation back only to just lose it all.  I can sleep pretty well, for 9 - 10 hours at night, and still be completely exhausted by 10am. On top of the typically pregnancy exhaustion, Dean had the flu last week, and I feel like my body has been fighting getting sick as well. Thankfully it hasn't gotten worse than a come and go headache and wanting to sleep all the time. We've been limiting our sugar intake and taking our supplements, and I am praying that the flu does not return in me or the boys! I am really hoping to get some energy back soon, so I can do more than just keeping us fed and dressed every day...

Looking ahead

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a great New Years Eve however you happened to spend it this year.

We had already planned on just being home for New Years Eve, and I was totally cool with that. My bedtime comes early these days, so I knew it would be ridiculous to even attempt doing something. I would have just ended up awkwardly falling asleep in some corner, and looking like a passed out drunk girl. No thanks. The plan was to stay home with just us, eat some junk food and try out our ice cream maker for the first time...
